About OpenSource.ngo

A nonprofit authority for open source licensing.

OpenSource.ngo is a mission-driven organization dedicated to collecting, organizing, and curating open source licenses from across the internet. We publish clear, accessible guidance to help developers, organizations, and individuals select licenses with confidence.

Why we exist

The global open source community relies on clear licensing to protect collaboration and freedom. We modernize licensing guidance and develop new licenses that respond to today’s technological, ethical, and geopolitical realities—especially in AI and global human rights contexts.

OpenSource.ngo is operated by DigitalPlat Foundation, a fiscally sponsored 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in the United States (EIN: 81-2908499).

Our stewardship

We serve as a reference authority for open source licensing, curating legacy and contemporary licenses while publishing new, modern frameworks that reflect today’s technology landscape.

Our nonprofit commitment

Every program and publication is reinvested into public-benefit work that advances open source software, transparency, and human rights worldwide.
